HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/25/2011 KTCB MINUTES CITY OF THE COLONY KEEP THE COLONY BEAUTIFUL BOARD AUGUST 25, 2011 After determining that a quorum was present, the Keep The Colony Beautiful Board of the City of The Colony, Texas convened into a regular session which was held on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers located in City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, at which time the following items were addressed: Board Members Present: Linda Van Vranken, Ruby Lawrence, Joe Zacha, Richard Kuether and Alan Ladd. Present from Staff: Iris Browder and Joe Perez 1.0 CALL MEETING TO ORDER j Chairman Van Vranken called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 2.0 CITIZEN INPUT Karen Tracy, 4569 Shadowridge Dr., The Colony Texas spoke at the meeting on behalf of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Ms. Tracy stated that she has been checking on her neighbors by going door to door and offering assistance to them if they need it. She said that her church is interested in working with the City of The Colony Volunteer Assistance Program (VAP) along with other churches and organizations to help assist those property owners in need of assistance. If she encounters property owners in need she will forward them to Mr. Perez and the VAP can help with the exterior and her church organization can help with those needing help on the interior. 3.0 MINUTES Mrs. Browder stated that on the minutes from the May 26, 2011 meeting, the motion carried should be changed from 6-0 to 5-0. A motion was made Board Member Kuether to approve the minutes as amended. Motion was seconded by Board Member Ladd. Motion carried 5-0. 4.0 DISCUSSION 4.1 Appointment of board Secretary. Board Member Zacha stated that he would serve as the secretary for the board. A motion was made by Board Member Ladd to accept the nomination and a second was motion was made by Board Member Kuether. Motion carried 5-0. 4.2 Receive update on upcoming events and affiliation status. Mr. Perez stated that we have submitted the 501c3 paperwork to the state and we are awaiting approval from them before we can submit the rest of the documents to the IRS. He also informed the Board that we have been put on probationary status by Keep Texas Beautiful and there are a couple of things that need to be completed prior to us being put into full status. Of the items listed that the Board must complete prior to be upgraded to full status, we have completed two of the three and will then be moved into full status. Joe also went over the upcoming Make a Difference Day event scheduled for Saturday, October 22" d. He explained it is a nationwide event and we are currently working on organizing projects for the event and will bring more information to the board at the next meeting.
