HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/03/11 CAB f\ugust 3, 2011 The Colony City Hall, 6:00 pm CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY August 3, 2011 A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Actin, Chair Lux at 6:00 pm PRESENT: Robert Bourbon Place 1(Arrived 6:17 p.m.) Liz Ripperger Place 2 Donna Arnold Place 3 Gail Kasck Place 4 Joan Lux Place 5 Kathy Costa Place 6 (Arrived 6:50 p.m.) Casey Kidwell Place 7 ABSENT: NONE 1. Call to Order Meeting called to order: 6:00 P.M. 2. Introduction of Jerry Allen and David Plettner-Saunders of the Cultural planning Group - Consultants for the CAMP Staff Liaison Shall enburger introduced the consultants to the Board. 3. Chair Report and Announcements a. Announcements None. 4. Liaison Reports a. Council Liaison None. b. Staff Liaison Staff Liaison ShallenbUrger reminded the Board of the CAMP Town Hall meeting at 7:00 this evening. Also a reminder that the semi-annual CAB report to council was scheduled for August 16, 2011. 5. Citizen Input This time is set aside for citizens to address the Cultural Arts Board regarding items that are or are not posted on the regular agenda. Those persons wishing to address the Board must sign in on the Citizen's Input form prior to the start of the meeting. 1 August 3, 201 1 The Colony City Hall, 6:OC pm None. 6. Minutes a. Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held July 6"", 2011. Meeting minutes were not yet ready for presentation. 7. Cultural Arts Board/Community Development Corporation subcommittee updates and discussion a. Cultural Arts Master Plan (Lux) Committee Chair Lux reported on a telephone conference with the CAMP consultants. She also reviewed survey responses from a survey taken from members of the CAMP Steering Committee. b. Kaleidoscapes (Ripperger) None. c. Sound Wall Art Panels (Kidwell) None. d. Stewarts Creek Park Artwork (Arnold) None. e. Mural (Kidwell) None. f. Mini-Event Committee (Ripperger) This item was combined with Agenda item 8 for discussion. 8. Discussion and consideration of planning for 2011 Mini-Events (Staff) Board members reported an approximate attendance of 90 for the July event. Members Arnold, Bourbon and Lux were appointed to the committee for the September event. Motion by Bourbon, Second by Lux to cancel the August event due to extreme heat conditions; Approved 7-0. Workshop for mini-events scheduled for August 9, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the Lakeside Arts Center. 9. Discussion and consideration of development of Friends of the Arts program and meetings with various local arts groups (Kidwell) Joan Lux reported on the Wine and Cheese Meet and Greet. 10. Discussion regarding Chair Ripperc;er's upcoming report to council regarding CAB (Ripperger) Board members provided input into Chair Ripperger's upcoming semi-annual report to the City Council. 11. Discussion regarding dedicated Cultural Arts Board website (Staff) Nothing new to report. 12. Discussion regarding board members responsibilities relating to CAB Grants (Bourbon) 2 AugUst 3, 201 1 The Colony City Hall, 6:00 pm Due to time constraints of the current meeting, this item was tabled until the September 6, 2011 meeting. 13. Board to provide direction to staff regarding future agenda items Board members indicated they would email any items to eth staff liaison. 14.
