OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY
NOVEMBER 20, 1997
A REGULAR SESSION of the Library Board of the City of The Colony, Texas, was
celled to order by Vice-Chair Wayne Bullard at 7:09 p.m.

1. Citizen's Input.
None.
2. Consideration of approval of minutes of the board meeting held October 23, 1997.
Minutes stand approved.
3. Reports:
3.1. Quality of Life Committee Representative:
The Quality of Life committee is continuing efforts to get more information
out into the community. Member Bullard has been appointed to the 4B
Board, along with Morris Seay, Susan King, and Don Goebel. The 4B Board
received an impressive presentation re: the golf course planned for
Wynnewood Pennisula; groundbreaking is scheduled for January.
3.2. Chairman:
No report.
3.3. NTRLS System Representative:
NTRLS now has a listserv for member libraries.
3.4. Library Director:
3.4.1. Reference Librarian Janet Sapp has submitted her resignation; her last
day in the City's employ will be January 12, 1998. Technicel Services
Librarian Scott May has requested a lateral transfer to the Reference
Librarian position. The Technicel Services Librarian position will be
advertised; the search for a Youth Services Librarian is still underway.
3.4.2. Director Sveinsson is now serving as staff liaison to the City's
Telecommunications Board.
3.4.3. The Texas State Library has revised the service population figure for
The Colony Public Library to 31,267, based on the 1994 Census
estimates. This figure includes the City population and a portion of the
County population. The previous assigned population was 29,352.
3.4.4. The Library's Christmas Luncheon is scheduled for Monday, December
15th. Board members are invited.
3.4.5. Director Sveinsson attended the NTRLS workshop "Improving Your
Library Building". The Board members discussed possible plans for
use of the Food Lion building; the City is moving forward with efforts to
acquire the building for use as a combined Library and City Hall facility.
