1. DISCUSSION OF CDC MASTER PLAN PROJECT PRIORITY LIST
Park improvements on the project priority list to be done this year include Carr/Chapman Park, Dave Cowan
Park, Friendship Park; Wilcox Park and Kids Colony Phase I are both done.
Kids Colony Phase II should be considered for next year; the structure is in had shape and several name
boards have been lost. We can set aside $150, 000 for Phase II and start it after improvements are made at
Carr/Chapman, Dave Cowan and Friendship Parks.
Historical Park - The gazebo is old and should be taken down and replaced with a new gazebo.
Image Enhancements - $50, 000 is a good number for the budget. This could include kaleidoscopes,
wildflower/tree plantings, public art and grass crete/pavers for Perryman Park.
Dog Park -While there are other projects higher on the priority list, requests for a dog park are still received.
A location needs to be determined - the area behind the amphitheater or behind Griffin Middle School
between Bridges and Peters Colony Elementary school.
Cultural Arts Master Plan - This will be presented to City Council at their first meeting in May.
Bicycle Master Plan - Many items related to this are being addressed as roads are being re-done. The CVB -
Convention & Visitors Bureau is making a points of interest map and this would be added. We can work with
The Colony Roadrunners to develop bicycle routes.
Picnic Shelters and Playground @ Stewart Creek Park - We get a lot of requests for a playground; it is much
needed and will get a lot of use by patrons of the park and residents. The picnic shelters renovations will
begin soon.
Bridges Cemetery - Acquire control of the cemetery from the county judge.
2. DISCUSSION OF 2011-2012 BUDGET
The board has budgeted $300, 000 for park improvements for a couple years and that has worked out well.
Pam told the board the bridge at Bill Allen needs to be replaced and she would like to get this done this year;
funds could be used@om the fund balance.
Projects to consider funding in the 2011-2012 budget include -
Image Enhancements - kaleidoscopes, wildflowers/tree plantings, public art, grass crete/pavers @ Perryman
Park
Historical Park - remove the gazebo
Bill Allen Memorial Park - add restrooms
Stewart Creek Park - new playground
Kids Colony - Phase 11
There being no further business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
