April 6, 2011
A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was
called to order by Chair Ripperger at 7:00 pm

1. Call to Order
Meeting called to order: 7:00 P.M.
2. Chair Report and Announcements
a. Announcements
Chair Ripperger discussed CAB attendance at Chalk This Way Festival; Donna
Arnold has begun compiling an Artist Database.
3. Liaison Reports
a. Council Liaison
b. Staff Liaison
Report on possible Grant Opportunity for CAMP
Liaison Shallenburger reported that The Colony had not been selected to apply for
the NEA grant.
Budget Update
Liaison Shallcnburger explained that CAB fields were no longer administered as
HOT funds, but that they would be paid from General Funds from this point
forward.
4. Citizen Input
This time is set aside for citizens to address the Cultural Arts Board regarding
items that are or are not posted on the regular agenda. Those persons wishing to
address the Board must sign in on the Citizen's Input form prior to the start of
the meeting.

Christi Martin - 5604 Longhorn Drive - Spoke regarding Chalk This Way Festival
and HOT Fund usage. She would like to see a committee regarding HOT field usage.
Council Liaison McCoury explained the council position on HOT funds.
5. Minutes
a. Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting
held March 2"', 2011.
Motion by Lux, Second by Bourbon to accept the March 2"', 2011 minutes as
printed; Approved 7-0.
6. Cultural Arts Board/Community Development Corporation subcommittee
updates
a. Cultural Arts Master Plan (Lux)
None.
b. Kaleidoscapes (Ripperger)
None.
c. Sound Wall Art Panels (Kidwell)
Committee met with an artist; Member Lux presented a slideshow presentation of
the proposed artwork for the Sound Wall Art Panels.
d. Stewarts Creek Park Artwork (Arnold)
None.
e. Mural (Kidwell)
None.
f. Mini-Event Committee (TBD)
The committee will meet on April 12, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at the PARR conference
Room.
7. Discussion and consideration of Presentation of Funding request to City Council
for funding of Cultural Arts Master Plan (Staft)
Motion by Bourbon to request CAMP funding from City Council at the next available
City Council meeting. Second by Costa. Approved 7-0.
8. Discussion and consideration of development of Friends of the Arts program
(Kidwell)
Member Kidwell presented proposed press release for volunteer recruitment. After
discussion and changes, Motion by Costa to issue release as finalized. Second by
Kasek. Approved 7-0.
9. Discussion regarding meetings with various local arts groups (Kidwell)
Suggestion for meet and greets was discussed. Logistics debated. Members Costa
and Lux will work on this issue.
10. Discussion and consideration of planning for 2011 Mini-Events (Staff)
Nothing to discuss at this time. Committee to meet on 4/12/201.
11. Discussion regarding dedicated Cultural Arts Board website (Staff)
Discussion held regarding internal City policy regarding web pages as they relate to
CAB. Mayor and staff liaison Shallenburger to discuss with city staff.

12. Board to provide direction to staff regarding future agenda items
Items 8,9,10,and I 1 to be carried over to next meeting.
