5. RECEIVE PRESENTATION FROM CASEY KIDWELL, CULTURAL ARTS BOARD MEMBER,
AND DISCUSS A MURAL PROJECT FOR THE CITY -
Casey has given this presentation to the Cultural Arts Board and City Council and both groups were
interested in the project. Some of the benefits of doing murals are they give you a sense of community, they
are good advertising, and they can provide an identity to the city. There aren't really any good structures on
Main St. for a mural, the water tanks at Office Creek is a possibility; but the wall on the Recreation Center is
also a possibility as it is visible fi^om the street, the new Kids Colony playground is there, and also the trail.
He recommends using professional mural painters (artists) - their fees will vary but many that he is familiar
with have worked with municipalities; per diems would have to be issued to the artist and scissor lifts would
have to be provided. Murals don't get tagged by vandals. Life expectancy varies, but some last 30 years with
minimal touch-up.
The board expressed their interest and support of the project.
6. RECEIVE UPDATES FROM STAFF AND DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING ITEMS -
FINANCIAL STATEMENTS -
Sales tax continues to rise.
CAB / CDC COMMITTEE UPDATES -
KIDS COLONY - The pavilion is being designed so the name boards can be added; we can get
volunteers to clean them.

the community build. The playground equipment will be herein January but we won't post it in print until we
can confirm the delivery date. The CDC Board can provide a hot dog lunch for the volunteers.

We are working with an architect to see about adding a storage area behind the restroom building so we can
