CITIZEN'S INPUT - None. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF JUNE 10TH 2010 AND THE JOINT WORK SESSION WITH THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD ON JUNE 16TH 2010- Motion to approve the minutes of June 10`h and June 16`h -Sohn; second - Leary; motion passes with all ayes. 3. DISCUSS AND CONSIDER PROPOSED PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT FOR WILCOX PARK - The board reviewed examples of the proposed equipment and were given cost estimates. There is currently a sale on the playground equipment, so we'll be saving a lot of money. Delivery of the structures takes 6-8 weeks and one month to install the structures. Stephanie Aceves informed the board she made $115. 00 on July 3rd from selling water along the parade route and at the Liberty by the Lake festival at Stewart Creek Park. She has raised over $1,000.00 to date. Her next fundraiser is collecting items to be recycled - she will have a truck at Big Lots where people can drop their items off at. She has put out fliers and contacted many local businesses about this fundraiser. Pam said she will ask the Finance Dept. to set up an account for people to make donations, which are tax deductible, for Stephanie's Wilcox Park Playground project. 4. RECEIVE UPDATE CONCERNING DAMAGE AND REPLACEMENT OF LIONS CLUB PARK PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT - The city is in the process of making a claim on the damage to the playground equipment at Lions Club Park; the city's insurance adjuster has come out and documented the damage. The equipment will be replaced at the same cost level it was when it was purchased,- CDC may need to provide some funding. 5. DISCUSS AND CONSIDER DONATION FROM THE COLONY ROADRUNNERS CLUB FOR INSTALLATION OF A DRINKING FOUNTAIN AT THE STEWART CREEK PARK SHORELINE TRAILHEAD - The Colony Roadrunner's Club wants to donate money they raised from the Kids Chase by the Lake event to purchase a drinking fountain to be placed on the trail. They want to donate $8, 000; the drinking fountain will cost $2,000 - $3, 000 and to install a water line will cost $5,000 - $7, 000, but there is money in the trail contingency fund available if needed. The drinking fountain will meet ADA regulations and we can also put a water bowl on the bottom for dogs. The Roadrunners will have input on t& selection of the fountain. Motion to approve Sanders; second - Mahle; motion passes with all ayes. 6. RECEIVE UPDATE FROM STAFF AND DISCUSS THE FOLLOWING ITEMS - FINANCIAL STATEMENTS - Sale tax is up. There was discussion about how people find out about new businesses in The Colony. BILL ALLEN MEMORIAL PARK DISC GOLF - The project should be finished in the next 2 weeks. Pam has had some discussion with Lindsey, Special Event Coordinator, about having the grand opening in conjunction with a Disc Golf Tournament on Saturday, August 28`". The tournament runs all day and we would cook hot dogs for lunch. The tournament would be placed on the disc golf tournament calendar. Lindsey plays disc golf and is very familiar with their tournaments. She is going to a tournament in Lubbock and will pass out fliers about our tournament. The president of the Disc Golf Association has seen our course and thinks it is a good course. KIDS COLONY - Keith should have the final draft next week. HIDDEN COVE PARK MARINA - They received a temporary CO from the city last week. The fireboat arrived last week and its main purpose is for fire protection at the marina, but it can be used as a backup on the lake, if needed. The fire department will begin training soon. The boat has 2- 25horsepower engines and a 350 horsepower jet engine. There are boats occupying some of the slips, and the ship store is being stocked. STEWART CREEK PARK IMPROVEMENTS - Pam and Keith met with a vendor regardingpavilion covers. They are getting estimates to replace the roof on the existing pavilion; it will be a metal roof to match the picnic tables. Not all the electrical upgrades were in place during the Liberty by the Lake event; some vendors tried to plug in too much which caused the breakers to trip, but there were also problems as a result of the rain. WAKE BOARD COMPETITION AT STEWART CREEK PARK - This is a one-day event and the first time for this event to occur in this area. If the event goes well, we can use it to promote the park, lake and city. CDC - CAB COMMITTEE REPORTS - Arts Master Plan -Lisa and Jeff Scoggins from the CAB have met to discuss text for the RFQ. Their committee has a meeting on July 13`". They want to advertise an RFQ in early October and have an Arts Master Plan in place and approved by City Council by March. Dan and Lisa represent the CDC Board on this committee. The CAB members now have city email accounts. Tower Design - Pam informed the board a contract is being developed with the consultant. She would like the committee to meet on July 13`". Kathy Braby represents the CDC Board on this committee.
