Stephanie Aceves got approval from the Girl Scouts for her project to make improvements at Wilcox Park.
She had a garage sale and made $535.00 and $105.00 has been donated since the garage sale. She is
planning a city-wide recycling program and Big Lots has given her permission to park a truck in their
parking lot for loading of items -this is scheduled for July 10`h. She is going to walk the parade route on July
3Yd and sell bottled water as a fundraiser and is planning another garage sale in July. Her goal is to raise
$40,000.00.
Stephanie wants to have a neighborhood meeting on June 30`h to discuss the playground project; she has
already gotten some input from residents.
Lisa asked Stephanie if she would give a list of her upcoming events to Pam so it could be distributed to the
board. If people have items they want to give for the garage sale, Stephanie will pick them up; she can be
reached at 972-625-5473 or javieraceves@hotmail.com.
4. DISCUSSION OF KIDS COLONY PLAYGROUND PROJECT -
Keith told the board we hope to start the demolition in one month to 6 weeks and have the new playground
installed by the end of summer. Some of the trees in the park may have to be relocated. Some of the current
equipment will remain until we begin the nextphase. New curbs, sidewalks, and drainage will be installed
after the demolition is completed. We can ask residents who have name boards in the park to come help with
the demolition. Additional funds from CDC may be needed.
5. DISCUSSION OF ROADWAY, ELECTRICAL AND OTHER IMPROVEMENTS AT STEWART
CREEK PARK -
The road improvement is almost complete; the sealcoat on the boat ramp parking will be done on 6123.
Flex base will be installed on the edges of the road because there is a big drop off. Speed bumps may be
added.
The electrical improvements are in progress. There will be new pedestals for RV's, upgraded electrical
panels for vendors and the stage, underground conduit is in place, the concrete bases will be installed next
week.
There was help from Engineering, Public Works, Water Distribution and Parks and Recreation on this
project. This was a great example of departments working together and as a result of that we were able to
save money and get the project done faster.
