MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD
OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY
May 5, 2010
A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called
to order by Chair Ripperger at 7:02 pm

1. Citizen Input
Christi Martin of 5604 Longhorn Drive suggested to the board that starting
"Citizen Input" later in the agenda would serve the public better. She also
inquired as to the possibility of adding arts announcements as part of the meeting.
Ms. Martin also announced that The Colony Playhouse will be holding auditions
on May 15th and 16th from 3pm-5pm at the Lakeway Church, 4000 N. Colony.
2. Approval of minutes of March regular session, April regular session and April
special session.
The March agenda was approved as corrected, the April agendas were approved
as presented.
Review of Lakeside Arts Center current issues/status.
There was nothing to report.
4. Discussion and consideration of Peggy Knight's request to use the Lakeside Arts
Center (Ripperger).
Peggy Knight of 6016 Turner Street requested use of the Lakeside Arts Center
(LAC) to meet with an artist group she will be forming. She would like the group
to meet on a regular ongoing basis on Wednesdays or Thursdays. The board

voted unanimously to approve use for the group for the first and third
Wednesdays of each month.
5. Discussion and consideration of guidelines for Lakeside Arts Center key
disbursement (Cheek).
This item was tabled.
6. Discussion and consideration of grant guidelines and forms (Ripperger).
The board approved the document with stated corrections and voted unanimously
to send it on to the City Attorney for review.
7. Discussion and consideration of joint meeting with the Community Development
Corporation (CDC) (Ripperger).
The board discussed the desire of CDC to meet with CAB on various topics.
Member Costa inquired on what kind of input would be expected from CAB
members. Pam Nelson, Director of the Parks and Recreation department and
Staff Liaison to CDC said that CDC would like input on resources, ideas, staffed
projects and more.
Member Scoggin asked if there would be an effect on the CDC Master Plan (MP).
Ms. Nelson said that the CDC MP has recommendations for an Arts MP, which
would be a separate plan.
The board agreed that May 10 was a first choice date for the meeting and May
2e a second choice, to be determined by the CDC members.
Christi Martin of 5604 Longhorn Drive asked if it would be an open meeting,
with citizen input. The board decided to determine this the night of the meeting.
Ms. Nelson informed the board that the MP can be found on CDC's website.
The meeting adjourned at 8:56 pm
