at this event. Director Sveinsson distributed information regarding TCPL's new
Sunday hours and other services, as well as issued library cards to new residents;
FOTCPL Vice-President Mac Caldwell helped at the Library booth, signing up new
FOTCPL members and assisting with handing out TCPL information.
3) Peters Colony Elementary School Curriculum Night
Adult Services Librarian Nancy Boykin and Circulation Clerk Holly Martin represented
TCPL at Peters Colony Elementary School's Curriculum Night to present information
about TCPL services and to issue library cards. For many of the families of students
at this school, Spanish is their primary language; Ms. Boykin's fluency in Spanish is
quite valuable in assisting these families in learning about TCPL's services.
4) Holiday in the Park
Holiday in the Park is scheduled for Saturday, December. 5th; prior to the parade,
some of TCPL's Teen Advisory Panel (TAP) members will walk the parade route to

park; the TAP members will also assist with the booth.
b. Loan Star Libraries Grant.
Director Sveinsson has submitted the Plan of Action and has been notified that the Plan
has been approved by the State Library. As soon as the contract is received, it will be put
on the City Council agenda for approval. The grant funds will not be received until after
the State Library receives the signed contract.
c. Facility and furnishings improvements.
1) Roof replacement.
The roof has been replaced and building repainted; the new City logo has been
installed over the porte-cochere and the roof of the porte-cochere has been painted
blue.
2) Phase III of improvement to layout of Juvenile area.
During the November 30th In-service, the final phase of the improvements was
completed; another range of shelving was lowered using new frames and the 66"
frames were re-distributed along the walls. The new arrangement provides a more
open and welcoming environment.
d. Service improvements.
1) New integrated library system status.
Subscription to the EOSI catalog service expires at the end of January; staff will run
final statistical reports from EOSI before the subscription expires. The new Iluminar
online catalog includes a Kids Catalog interface which searches only those records
with the "Juvenile literature" or "Juvenile fiction" sub-heading; as many of the records
for TCPL's children's materials were not previously tagged with those subheadings,
staff is now working to add the sub-headings to enable more effective searching via
the Kids Catalog interface.
