HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/06/2010 CAB January 6, 2010 The Colony City Hall, 7:03 pm CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY January 6, 2010 A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Chair Lux at 7:03pm Present: Joan Lux Place 5 Jeff Scoggin Place 1 Laron Cheek Place 4 Kathy Costa Place 6 Casey Kidwell Place 7 1. Citizen Input Christi Martin of 5604 Longhorn Drive informed the board of recently finished and upcoming productions and plans of the Colony Playhouse theater group. Ms. Martin also addressed the city's plans for a facility, that she would like the CAB to consider raising money for the project. She would be willing to coordinate volunteers and work on the project. 2. Approval of minutes of November regular session. Approved as presented. 3. Introduction of new members: Casey Kidwell, Kathy Costa and Jeff Scoggin Chair Lux asked all members and Liaison Margolis to introduce themselves. 4. Review of rules of order for new members Chair Lux briefly reviewed the rules of order. 5. Discussion of open meeting certification Chair Lux requested that all members have their certificate by the February P meeting. Liaison Margolis will email course information to all members. 1 January 6, 20 10 The Colony City Hall, 7:03 pm 6. Discussion and consideration of approval for Lakeside Community Theater's 2010/2011 schedule. This item was tabled. 7. Discussion of Lakeside Arts Center Spring Break Camp. This item was tabled. 8. Review of Lakeside Arts Center current issues/status a. Keys Member Cheek and Liaison Margolis will meet to review key status and policy. b. Refreshment permit This was tabled. c. Stage light bulbs This item should be dealt with by the city's facilities maintenance department. d. Equipment labeling American Legion equipment still needs to be labeled. Member Cheek confirmed that the members are aware of this. 9. Discussion and consideration of grant guidelines and forms Chair Lux distributed information for members to use as a starting point to write grant guidelines. Important things to consider: 1) is it worthy of a grant and 2) is it within HOT (Hotel Occupancy Tax) funds guidelines.
