HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/20/09 CAB May 20, 2009, The Colony City Hall, 7:20pm CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY May 20, 2009 A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Chair Lux at 7:20pm Present: Joan Lux Place 5 Robert Lux Place 1 Cindy Marshall Place 2 Liz Ripperger Place 6 Timothy Martin Place 3 Absent: Claudia Stooksberry Place 7 (unexcused) 1. Citizen Input None. 2. Minutes Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held April 21, 2009. Minutes approved as presented. 3. Discussion, update and consideration of 2009 Pirate Days multi-media contest. The flier, designed by Liaison Margolis, was presented to the board and suggestions were made for changes. The flier was approved, with changes as noted. Liaison Margolis will make phanges and forward the approved flier to members. The banner will cost $70, as quoted by the Richey Company (the budget approved by the City Council cited $250 for a banflpr). The board voted unanimously to go ahead with the design, per Richey CompAny's size specifications. 1 May 20, 2009, The Colony City Hall, 7:20pm The board discussed what the options are for sign posting. The possibility of using private yards (with permission), as done by political candidates for posting signs was presented. Liaison Margolis will look into the options. The signs that will be posted will read: Media Event Contest Photography, Art, Music, Film Applications - T.C. Public Library piratedays. org Vice-Chair Marshall has arranged for flier distribution to Castle Hills Homes for a cost of $50. She also was quoted a price by The Copy Shop, in The Colony for 5¢ color copies, if company logo is added to flier. The board will discuss compact disc production further at next meeting. Liaison Margolis will try to expedite contact with Rebecca Koo, to inquire further about city's capabilities. 4. Update on website status. The board discussed what should and should not be on the preliminary website, which functions primarily to promote the Media Event. The board voted to go ahead with the site for the event, with a capped fee at $300. 5. Discussion of June 6th Stewart's Creek Trail event booth.
