CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
RESOLUTION NO. 10-003
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
THE COLONY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A
GRANT APPLICATION TO TEXAS DEPARTMENTS OF
TRANSPORTATION FOR THE 2009 STATEWIDE
TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENTS PROGRAM FUNDS FOR
THE DEVELOPMENT; PROVIDING FOR LOCAL MATCH
FUNDS; PROVIDING FOR FUNDING OF COST OVERRUNS;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of The Colony wishes to improve the safety and efficiency
of the movement of people throughout the community by creating trails for bicycling and
walking; and,
WHEREAS, the Park Loop Trail and trail connections to Austin Ranch will be
valuable assets to our residents by providing mobility options to schools, parks, public
facilities, churches, and businesses hereinafter "Project"; and,
WHEREAS, completion of the Park Loop Trail will also provide connections to
existing and future trails that will link neighborhoods to proposed transit stations and
neighboring cities, creating additional benefits to our citizens; and
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City of The Colony City Council to submit an
application to the Texas Department of Transportation for the Statewide Transportation
Enhancements Program funding to expand the city's trail system, enhancing mobility
options for our residents; and,
WHEREAS, the City will commit to the project's development, implementation,
construction, maintenance, management and financing, and the City commits to
providing funds for both the local match and 100% of any cost overruns should that
occur.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas hereby
authorizes the submission of a grant application to the Texas Department of
Transportation for Statewide Transportation Enhancements Program funding for the
purpose of expanding the city's trail system and the project.
Section 2. That the City Council will commit to the project's development,
implementation, construction, maintenance, management and financing, and the City
commits to providing funds for both the local match twenty percent (20%) matching
funds and one hundred percent (100%), cost overruns, if any that occur on said Project.
Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage.
PASSED AND APPROVED by the City Council of the City of The Colony,
Texas, this 5th day of January, 2010.
