HomeMy WebLinkAbout06/10/09 EDC CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS JUNE 10, 2009 The Regular Session of The Colony Economic Development Corporation of The Colony, Texas, was called to order at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th day of June 2009, at City Hall, 6800 Main Street, The Colony, Texas, with the following roll call: Tom Tvardzik President Present Kevin Braby Vice President Present David Peerson Treasurer Absent David Smith Secretary Present Femi Omonije Member at Large Present Perry Schrag Council Liaison Present Tom Terrall Staff Present Cindi Lane Staff Present 1.0 ROUTINE ANNOUNCEMENTS; RECOGNITIONS: Call To Order: - President Tom Tvardzik called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. Pledge of Allegiance to the United States Flag: - President Tvardzik led in the Pledge of Allegiance. Announcement of upcoming events and activities' New Developments: There was nothing to report. Hotel Grand Opening June 11: Mr. Terrall handed out the press release and reminded the board that it begins at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Events Center adjacent to the Fairfield Inn. Citizen Input: There was no citizen input. 2.0 CONSENT AGENDA 2.1 Acceptance of cash flow projection report (Terrall) 2.2 Acceptance of monthly % cent sales tax graph (Terrall) 2.3 Acceptance of tax allocation summary for April (Terrall) 2.4 Marketing update, website statistics, and print advertising (Lane) 2.5 Approval of the minutes of the regular board meeting April 8, 2009 (Terrall) 1 These items are strictly public service announcements. No action will be taken and no direction will be given regarding these items. Kevin eraby made a motion to accept the consent agenda as presented. David Smith seconded the motion and all members voted in favor. 3.0 REGULAR AGENDA 3.1 Update of International Council of Shopping Center Recon Tradeshow May 17-20 (Terrall): Mr. Terrall said that the group went to Las Vegas with 14 appointments and about 70 cold calls to make. The turnout was expected to be lower due to the economy and there were an estimated 30,000 attendees this year compared with close to 55,000 attendees last year. He said that worked to our advantage because the people who were there were focused and it was easier to get through the crowd to make cold calls in between the appointments. Mr. Terrall and Ms. Lane are now in the process of following up, getting information out and will soon make phone calls and try to continue the relationships. President Tvardzik called a recess since the weather had gotten grave and sirens were going off for everyone to take immediate shelter. The board left the conference room and went to the designated area for weather protection for five to ten minutes. 3.2 Discussion regarding sponsoring The Colony Chamber of Commerce golf tournament (Terrall): - not addressed. 3.3 Discussion regarding council meeting June 17, 2009 (Terrall): - not addressed. ADJOURNMENT: President Tvardzik adjourned the meeting at 7:15 p.m. due to inclement weather and the electricity going out.
