HomeMy WebLinkAbout05/20/08 CAB May 20, 2008, The Colony Public Library, 7: 14 pm CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY May 20, 2008 A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Chair Lux at 7: 14 pm Present: Joan Lux Robert Lux Cynthia Shailer Liz Ripperger Cindy Marshall Sherry Goplin Place 5 Place 1 Place 4 Place 6 Place 2 Place 7 1. Citizen Input None. 2. Minutes Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held April 22, 2008. The minutes were approved as presented. 3. Discussion and consideration of recommending use of HOT funds for Kaleidoscape project by Lakeside Arts Foundation This project has been designated as ineligible for HOT funds. 4. Discussion and consideration of use of Lakeside Arts Center by Lakeside Arts Foundation for art classes. After a presentation by the teachers who will be conducting the classes, the board voted unanimously in favor of allowing the use of the facility for classes in June and July. 5. Discussion and consideration of use of Lakeside Arts Center by Lakeside Arts Foundation for photography classes. This item was tabled. I May 20,2008, The Colony Public Library, 7:14 pm 6. Update and discussion of Lakeside Arts Center cleaning. Liaison Margolis reported to the board that the city is using a new cleaning service and that everyone has been asked to give it about 3 weeks to "get the bugs out" . 7. Discussion of Lakeside Arts Center scheduling procedure. Liaison Margolis inquired as to whether it might work best to use an online calendar (such as Google calendar) that could be viewed by anyone, but only altered by a few people. The board agreed this was a good approach. Liaison Margolis will research further into the matter. 8. Clarification and discussion of lease agreements. The board decided unanimously to amend the policy to include allowance for groups to bring in a storage unit no bigger than 6 feet tall, 3 feet wide and 18 inches deep to use in the facility. Any unit or item larger than the specified dimensions will require approval from CAB. 9. Clarification and discussion about items left III the arts center, specifically regarding destruction or theft. This matter is clear in the existing policy. 10. Clarification, discussion and consideration regarding Lakeside Arts Center "structural changes". Any requests will go through CAB as a specific proposal for approval. The meeting adjourned at 9: 1 0 pm .~ 2
