April 22, 2008
A REGULAR SESSION ofthe Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called
to order by Chair Lux at 7: 18 pm

2. Minutes
Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board (CAB)
meeting held March 18, 2008.
Approved as presented.
3. Update and discussion of Kaleidoscape project by Lakeside Arts Foundation
Christi Martin of 5604 Longhorn, representing the Lakeside Arts Foundation
(LAF), requested endorsement by the CAB of the Kaleidoscape project.
The project aims to brighten public spaces with colored glass sculpture pieces.
The body of the pieces will be paid for by the LAF, they are requesting that the
city pay for and maintain the foundations of each piece.
LAF will be presenting to the CDC (4BO at their May 8th meeting and to City
Council at their May 19th meeting.

The board voted unanimously to endorse the project. Member Goplin volunteered
to help with the presentation to City Council.
4. Discussion and consideration of request by Horizons Church to use Lakeside Arts
Center.
Horizons Church requested use of the front room of the Lakeside Arts Center for
preparation for a Mother's Day dance. They requested April 29th and May 4th
and 6th.
The request was approved unanimously.
5. Discussion and consideration of use of Lakeside Arts Center by Lakeside Arts
Foundation for art classes.
Christi Martin of 5604 Longhorn, representing the Lakeside Arts Foundation
proposed using the Lakeside Arts Center for art classes taught by a Lewisville
Independent School District art teachers on Saturday mornings beginning in June
or July. The LAF would buy supplies and a supply cabinet.
Chair Lux requested that a hired teacher with a plan for the classes come to the
next CAB meeting. This was agreed to by Ms. Martin.
6. Discussion and consideration of request by Lakeside Community Theater to make
cosmetic changes to the Cultural Arts Center.
Members of the Lakeside Community Theater requested permission to make
some cosmetic changes to the Lakeside Arts Center's front room. They would do
all the work and pay for all the materials and supplies. The work would be fully
reversible, if necessary. They plan to apply wood paneling to the lower part of
the walls and paint in sage green.
The request was approved with a majority vote.
7. Review and consideration for final approval of revised Lakeside Arts Center Use
Policy.
The board decided unanimously to send the Lakeside Arts Center Use Policy with
the changes that were approved in March to the City Council for approval.
8. Discussion and consideration of board representative to the Parks and Recreation
Department's Fun Times publication.
Joan Lux and Cindy Shailer agreed to represent the board by contributing to the
Arts pages of the Fun Times quarterly publication.

They will coordinate with Amanda Carson-Green of the Lakeside Arts Theater,
who currently works with Fun Times.
9. Update on status of Lakeside Arts Center lock changes.
The changes have been made and keys are ready to be issued.
The meeting adjourned at 8:35 pm
