HomeMy WebLinkAbout02/22/96 Library Board MINUTES OF THE LIBRARY BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY FEBRUARY 22, 1996 A REGULAR SESSION of the Library Board of the City of The Colony Texas, was called to order by Vice-Chair Skelton at 7:14 p.m. Present: Patricia Riggs Place 1 Diana Kruzich Place 2 James Althaus Place 3 Jayme Skelton Place 5 Wayne Bullard Place 6 Elizabeth Vaughn Place 7 Joan L. Sveinsson Library Director Sandra Vondersaar Secretary Absent: Dorian Barton Place 4 (business) 1. Citizen's Input. None. 2. Consideration of approval of minutes of the board meetings held November 16, 1995, January 25, 1996, and February 15, 1996, and ratification of approval of the minutes of the December 21, 1995 board meeting. Minutes stand approved and ratified as presented. 3. Consideration of proposed revisions to the Circulation Policy. Member Althaus made a motion to remove reference to minimum age requirement for obtaining a library card. Member Riggs seconded the motion. After a brief discussion the motion passed with Members Althaus, Riggs, Skelton and Vaughn for and Members Bullard and Kruzich against. 4. Consideration of changing meeting dates in March and April 1996 to March 21 and April 18. The members agreed to these changes. 5. Reports. a. Chairman's Report: None b. NTRLS System Representative's Report: Member Althaus invited the board to attend the Regional meeting being held February 26, 1996 at 10:00 a.m. at The Colony Public Library, and noted that the Planning Co~ittee is meeting February 29, 1996 in Ft. Worth. He also reminded members of the availability of the NTRLS Newsletter if they are interested. He encouraged the board to attend the TLA conference in Houston the last week of April. Director Sveinsson shared a copy of the preliminary conference packets for TLA and for the Public Library Association Conference, -- March 26 through 30, in Portland, Oregon. c. New Technologies Committee Report: None d. Library Director's Report: Director Sveinsson reported the cables will be installed Monday morning for the new computers. Ray Grimes will install the computers the following Monday. Director Sveinsson commended the staff for their efforts to maintain services during the February 2, 1996 ice storm and their prompt actions to ensure patron and equipment safety during the February 21, 1996 power outage.
