FOR A VETERAN'S MEMORIAL TO BE PLACED AT FIVE STAR -
James Munsey and Dewey Fambry came to inform the board about the Veteran's Memorial that
will be built at the Five Star Complex. As a fundraiser, they are selling bricks that will be placed
in front of the monument. The bricks will be engraved with the name of the person who served in
any level of the military - Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Air Force or Marines. The cost is $25.
They will be taking names beginning Nov. 9`h, the day of the Veteran's Day Ceremony that is
being held at City Hall. There are several forms of proof of service they require before a brick
can be purchased. This is only being offered to The Colony residents, not to everyone in the
metroplex.
Motion to approve - Leary; Second - King; motion carried with all ayes
4. DICUSSION OF BEAUTIFICATION IDEAS -
Pam asked the board to review some issues they listed from the city tour taken a couple of months
ago. Some issues addressed were the need for more color, benches in the parks, more trees or
shade needed in the pocket parks, more parking at the boat ramp at Stewart Creek Park,
upgrading of playground equipment at Stewart Creek Park, all parks should have a water spigot,
better code enforcement, signage to identify neighborhoods and parks, and as development takes
place, beautification needs to be strictly adhered to by the developer.
