Status report re: operations Library personnel staffed a booth at the Back to School Bash held at the Recreation Center to issue library cards and promote the Library's services. The event was very well attended, the library's booth was in a wonderful location, and the Parks and Recreation staff arranged for an internet connection. It was definitely a positive public relations activity for the Library and staff plans to participate in this event next year. Votes may still be cast in the "Librarian Idol" contest until September 15th. It appears to take a lot of votes to move our library up in the rankings. The winning library will be awarded $1,000 in books from the vendor that is sponsoring the contest. The staff has been developing methods to promote National Library Card Signup Month that takes place in September. Director Sveinsson has adapted some ALA PSA's using Microsoft Movie Maker, combining the PSA audio with ALA graphics and local photos, in the hopes of using them on the City's cable channel. TCPL has entered into a friendly competition with Little Elm Public Library and Lakes Cities Library for the most library cards signed up in September. b.
