HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/28/07 Cultural Arts August 28, 2007, Library Conference Room, 6:40pm CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY August 28, 2007 A SPECIAL SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Chair Whitmore at 6:40pm Present: Neale Whitmore Cynthia Shailer Joan Lux Liz Ripperger Place 3 Place 4 Place 5 Place 6 Absent: Cindy Marshall Place 2 (excused) 1. Citizen Input None. 2. Discussion and planning of Dancers Against Cancer event The board discussed holding the event on November 10th and decided unanimously that it would begin at 2pm. The city (The Colony) is holding its Veteran's Day celebration that day and evening, with no activities planned for the early afternoon, so the Dancers Against Cancer event will be presented in conjunction with the city's events. Member Shailer will confirm with The Colony High School and Liaison Margolis will finalize the flyer. 3. Discussion and consideration of rescheduling of November Cultural Arts Board meeting This item was tabled. 4. Discussion and consideration of recommendation to council for approval of funding (usage of HOT funds) for promotion of the Lakeside Arts Foundation's haunted house event. August 28,2007, Library Conference Room, 6:40pm Christi Martin of 5604 Longhorn Drive and Donna Arnold of 4328 N Colony Boulevard, made a request for CAB to recommend use of Hotel Occupancy Tax funds. The funds would be used for promotion and advertising of the haunted house event being put on by the Lakeside Arts Foundation, Fridays and Saturdays, October 12-27, 2007. The board voted unanimously to make a recommendation to city council for the funding. Chair Whitmore and Member Ripperger will make the presentation to the council on September 17th.
