HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 07-1703 THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 07- /1 (S AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, RENAMING NOWLIN DRIVE, BEING A PUBLIC ROAD EXTENDING APPROXIMATELY 400 FEET RUNNING WEST FROM BLAIR OAKS IMMEDIATEL Y SOUTH OF THE COLONY HIGH SCHOOL, AS DEPICTED ON EXHIBIT "A" ATTACHED HERETO AND INCORPORATE HEREIN BY REFERENCE, TO COUGAR ALLEY DRIVE; DIRECTING THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER TO CHANGE THE NAME OF SAID PORTION AND ERECT SIGNAGE REFLECTING THE SAME; PROVIDING FOR THE ERECTION OF SIGNAGE; DIRECTING THE CITY SECRETARY TO FILE A CERTIFIED COpy WITH DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Nowlin Drive is a short public street being about 400 feet in length, running west from Blair Oaks Drive immediately south of The Colony High School; and, WHEREAS, Nowlin Drive ends at an "L" intersection with Cougar Alley Drive to the west; and WHEREAS, there are not any residences or businesses addressed off of Nowlin Drive; and WHEREAS, the name change would reflect a continuation of Cougar Alley Drive through to Blair Oaks Drive; and WHEREAS, the City Council of the City has determined that Nowlin Drive should be renamed to Cougar Alley Drive; NOW, THERFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Nowlin Drive, being a short public road extending approximately 400 feet in length, running west from Blair Oaks Drive immediately south of The Colony High School, as depicted on Exhibit "A" which is attached hereto and incorporate herein by reference, is hereby renamed Cougar Alley Drive; and, that the City Engineer is directed to correct the maps and records of the City to reflect a change in said street name and to erect the appropriate signage in accordance with the ordinances and regulations of the City of The Colony, Texas. TM 12794. 76.000.CDB SECTION 2. That the City Secretary shall file a certified copy of this ordinance shall be filed in the Deed Records of Denton County, Texas. SECTION 3. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage, as the law and Charter in such cases provide.
