HomeMy WebLinkAbout01/20/07 Cultural Arts I CITY OF THE COLONY DENTON COUNTY, TEXAS MINUTES OF THE CULTURAL ARTS BOARD OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY January 20, 20~ 7 A REGULAR SESSION ofthe Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order by Chair Whitmore at 9:08 am. Present: Neale Whitmore Cynthia Shailer Liz Ripperger Joan Lux Amy Long-Manuel Place 3 Place 4 Place 6 Place 5 Place 7 1. Citizen Input Christi Martin, 5604 Longhorn Drive, and David Wallis, 4813 N Colony Blvd, both of the Lakeside Community Theater came to the meeting so that Ms. Martin could introduce Mr. Wallis to the board, since he will be taking over the majority of the administrative duties for the theater. I Ms. Martin and Mr. Wallis also let the board know about some details regarding the Lakeside Arts Center (LAC), specifically: . That five groups are currently using the building . Who currently has keys to the building Ms. Martin also announced that the Lakeside Arts Foundation will be meeting at the LAC Monday, January 22od, at 7pm. 2. Minutes Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held November 4, 2006. Minutes were approved as presented. 3. Discussion of possible upcoming arts events The Lakeside Community Theater (LCT) will present the play "Barefoot in the Park," February 23 and 24th and March 2nd and 3rd. I The LCT is also holding a children's workshop for ages 5-18, January 26-28. 4. Discussion of status of mission statement Liaison Margolis distributed copies of the CAB Mission Statement as amended and approved by the city council. I 5. Discussion of working on park sculptures in conjunction with 4B board and Historical Committee Vice-chair Lux will be going to welding center on Monday, January 220d with Don Beckel from the 4B board to discuss interactive sculptures for Perryman Park. Also, Vice-chair Lux let the board know that the search is on for photographs from The Colony in the early-1970's. 6. Scheduling of work session to work on Lakeside Arts Center building policies and fees A special session will be held on Sunday, January 28th at 7pm at the Lakeside Arts Center. 7. Discussion to grant Ballet Plus an extension for use of the Lakeside Arts Center. The Request was rescinded.
