Citizen Input None. I 2. Minutes Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held July 15,2006 and the Cultural Arts Board special session held July 26,2006. Minutes approved as presented. 3. Discussion of possible upcoming arts events Member Ripperger informed the board about the different stages that would be at SailFair (September 14-17). The stages will include a community stage, the melodrama tent and the main stage, where rock bands will play. Member Shailer expressed concern about the stage's stability. 4. Discussion of Cultural Arts Board produced event Chair Whitmore pointed out that a performance by singer/songwriter Eddie Coker ($1500, including sound) can be held anywhere. Possible locations discussed included: · The amphitheatre (@ Bill Allen Memorial Park), which brings up several concerns, including safety, lack of bathroom facilities and weather). · The Friendship Baptist Church, concerns include size. I Member Shailer acknowledged that a performance by dance group Ballet Magnitkat ($5000, $500/deposit + accommodations) would take more space and more significant planning, but that it would exhibit a stunning example of the arts. Possible locations discussed included the high school and Calvary Christian Center. The religious affiliation and emphasis of Ballet Magnificat was discussed as a major concern. The board discussed the importance of booking performances far enough in advance. I 5. Discussion of mission statement and action to take concerning the statement Liaison Margolis will email agenda for upcoming City Council "Arts session" and Hotel Occupancy Tax statistics to board members.
