Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held July
15,2006 and the Cultural Arts Board special session held July 26,2006.

3. Discussion of possible upcoming arts events
Member Ripperger informed the board about the different stages that would be at SailFair
(September 14-17). The stages will include a community stage, the melodrama tent and
the main stage, where rock bands will play. Member Shailer expressed concern about the
stage's stability.
4. Discussion of Cultural Arts Board produced event
Chair Whitmore pointed out that a performance by singer/songwriter Eddie Coker
($1500, including sound) can be held anywhere. Possible locations discussed included:
· The amphitheatre (@ Bill Allen Memorial Park), which brings up several
concerns, including safety, lack of bathroom facilities and weather).
· The Friendship Baptist Church, concerns include size.
I
Member Shailer acknowledged that a performance by dance group Ballet Magnitkat
($5000, $500/deposit + accommodations) would take more space and more significant
planning, but that it would exhibit a stunning example of the arts. Possible locations
discussed included the high school and Calvary Christian Center.
The religious affiliation and emphasis of Ballet Magnificat was discussed as a major
concern.
The board discussed the importance of booking performances far enough in advance.
