CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE
COLONY, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A TEXAS
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
APPLICATION TO THE OFFICE OF RURAL COMMUNITY AFFAIRS
FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT FUND; AUTHORIZING THE
DEVELOPMENT SERVICES DIRECTOR TO ACT AS THE CITY'S
EXECUTIVE OFFICER AND AUTHORIZED REPRESENTATIVE IN
ALL MATTERS PERTAINING TO THE CITY'S PARTICIPATION IN
THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM; AND PROVIDING
AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of The Colony desires to develop a viable
urban community, including decent housing and a suitable living environment and expanding
economic opportunities, principally for persons of low/moderate income; and
WHEREAS, certain conditions exist which represent a threat to the public health and
safety; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary and in the best interest ofthe City of The Colony to apply for
funding under the 2007 Texas Community Development Program;
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
THE COLONY, TEXAS THAT:
Section 1. The Development Services Director is authorized to file an application for
housing rehabilitation, substandard structure removal and graffiti removal with the Texas
Community Development Block Grant Program on behalf of the City with the Office of Rural
Community Affairs.
Section 2. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that said application be submitted for
funding under said program and that said application be in the amount of three hundred and
seven thousand two hundred dollars ($307,200.00) of grant funds housing rehabilitation,
substandard structure removal and graffiti removal.
Section 3. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Development Services Director is
hereby designated as the City's Chief Executive Officer and Authorized Representative to act in
all matters in connection with this application and the City's participation in the Program.
Section 4. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City of The Colony is committing
one thousand seven hundred thirty eight dollars and forty three cents ($1,738.43) from its
General Fund as contribution toward housing rehabilitation, substandard structure removal and
graffiti removal programs.

Section 5. That this Resolution shall take effect immediately from and after its adoption
and it is so resolved.
