Citizen Input None. 2. Minutes Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held December 10,2005. The minutes were approved as presented. 3. Discussion of possible upcoming arts events Member Martin announced that the female version of The Odd Couple has just been cast. The production will run from February 24th to March 3rd at the Lakeside Arts Center (LAC). There is a meeting today for those wishing to volunteer for the production. The board discussed public art in the Colony, specifically painting a mural on the fence near the LAC. The city has informed those interested that they would need to see a plan before the mural could go ahead. Member Long-Manuel suggested that the best course of action would be to hire a local, professional artist for the design and implementation (perhaps found via a design contest?), but to ask community members to help with the painting itself. The board would put together a proposal, announce it in the paper and contact local art teachers. I Member Lux suggested trying to find grants for public art in general. 4. Discussion of Civic Center construction status. Board discussed thoughts about the special City Council work session set for January 23"\ scheduled to discuss the Civic Center. Member Martin expressed that decisions need to be made before the City Council elections and that if theater facilities are not part of the approved plan that the theater will consider moving elsewhere. Members discussed concern over the actual cost versus the budget that has been established. 5. Discussion of board absence policy. The board discussed consulting the Board Handbook to clarify the absence policy. Liaison Margolis agreed to refer to the book for next month's meeting. Members were reminded that the Chairman should be contacted about any foreseen absences. The meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m. ~~a- Neale Whitmore, Chair
