August 13,2005
A REGULAR SESSION of the Cultural Arts Board of the City of The Colony was called to order
by Chair Whitmore at 9:35 a.m.

a. Consideration of approval of the minutes of the Cultural Arts Board meeting held June
11,2005
The minutes were approved with correction of a spelling error.
3. Discussion and consideration of request by Mary Spencer of the Sweet Adelines to hold a
concert at the Lakeside Arts Center the last weekend of September.
Member Martin recommended approval on the condition that Mary Spencer pay for the
janitor service to clean up after the program. Member Shailer moved to approve. Member
Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
4. Discussion and consideration of request by Mary Spencer for the Red Hat society to hold
a talent show the first or second weekend of October to benefit the Lakeside Arts
Foundation.
Chair Whitmore stated that this request had been withdrawn and was thereby
removed from the agenda.

Discussion and consideration of moving regular Cultural Arts Board meeting time to 9:00
a.m. on the second Saturday of the month.

Member Martin moved to approve the time change. Member Parker seconded the motion.
The motion passed unanimously. Member Martin requested that staff liaison, Jill Rael,
send an e-mail reminder to all board members.
6. Discussion and consideration of September Cultural Arts Board meeting date, time, and
location.
Member Martin made a motion to move the September meeting to the Lakeside Arts
Center. Member Parker seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
7. Discussion and consideration of Gina Genung's request for the Board to spearhead the
beginnings of a community-wide festival with the cooperation of other organizations that
want to be involved.
Chair Whitmore stated that th~ function of the Cultural Arts Board is to support not
spearhead or produce arts-related activities. The rest ofthe board agreed.
8. Discussion of possible upcoming arts events.
Member Martin stated that Godspell was on schedule, and there were no other upcoming
events.
9. Discussion and consideration of allowing Lakeside Arts Foundation to have a Haunted
House at the Lakeside Arts Center in October 2005.
Member Parker motioned to approve. Member Shailer seconded. The motion passed
unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
