New Business
1. Harry Persaud discussed the wording of the current fence ordinance and discussed
options for the future. Tom Handley brought up the construction material of the
fence and possible limitations. It was discussed amongst all about limiting the
type of materials used to wood, manufactured vinyl material, chain link, rod iron
and cinder blocks for the rear yard. It was discussed that when a resident is
replacing a fence, the material must meet approved materials as per the building
codes. It was discussed that building codes would determine the footing and other
requirements. Electric fences and possible requirement for an eye sensor was
discussed.
2. Harry Persaud discussed rental inspections and the Minimum Housing Code.
Option to adopt a Tenant Bill of Rights (copy provided by City of PIano), rental
inspections or to omit".. . except occupied homes..." from the current code. It was
suggested by Harry that we start a Tenant Bill of Rights as soon as possible.
Possible charges for rental registration were discussed. It was mentioned that if a
tenant complains, they would need to show the inspector the complaint that was
sent to the landlord. Check to see if water department could assist in tracking
renter or owner status of residents. Cheryl, Lynda, Rita and Joel voiced their
support for rental inspections to resume.
