COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT CITY HALL
MINUTES
Agenda Item II.
Citizen Input.
1. Joyce voiced concerns about the current fence ordnance. She spoke
specifically about the fence being constructed from garage doors. Would
like ordnance passed so this doesn't happen in the future.
2. Mickey Bingham talked about the housing conditions that some of the
residents of The Colony are living in due to landlord neglect. Would like
the city to do something to help the tenants living in substandard
conditions. Discussed the health issues involved with this as well.
3. Resident voiced concern about neighborhood children turning her trash
can over. There was discussion about the matter and what she should do
about it.
Agenda Item III.
Acceptance or Correction of Minutes from May 27th Meeting.
1. Cheryl noted a correction. She did not abstain from the vote for rental
property inspections. She did abstain from the vote on garage sale signs.
Agenda Item IV.
New Business
1. Iris Browder discussed the junk vehicle ordinance. Wording of the
ordinance was discussed. She discussed how other cities deal with this
problem. The motion was made that only one inoperable vehicle with a
fitted, well maintained cover would be allowed per property on a hard
surface. That 90 days would be allotted for property owners to get rid of
excess vehicles. Lynda -1 st and Chris 2od. It will go to the city attorney
before it goes to council.
2. Iris Browder discussed status reports comparing this year to last year.
Collecting money on invoices was again discussed. Joel asked the cost of
doing business with the agency and suggested we raise the administration
cost to cover that expense. There were no motions made at this time.
3. Iris Browder discussed the trash can ordinance and clarified that the cans
should be at least 8 feet back from the alley. It was agreed that the
enforcement does seem to be working. It was discussed that there are still
some areas that need to be worked on and a few changes that need to be
made. There are some areas of town that need to move trash containers
to front because alley way is not wide enough to accommodate trash can
and trash truck. Terry Gilman is working of this issue and will bring it
back to council. No motion made at this time.
Agenda Item V.
Unfinished Business.
1. Harry Persaud discussed the sign ordnance that went to council and
explained that council wants to do a work session including all the
members of the CEAC and council.
2. Bill Longo discussed the rental inspection issue and how the newspaper
article confused some of the facts. Will try to add this issue to the sign
ordinance work session.
