CODE ENFORCEMENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE
March 10, 2004
6:00 PM
COUNCIL CHAMBERS AT CITY HALL
6800 MAIN STREET
Agenda Item III.
Ruthann Devlin gave a presentation on the status ofliens that Code Enforcement has
accrued since 1989. She stated that the City currently has a lien total of$104,179.30
and of that, the actual expense to the City is $64,176. The Committee recommended
that staff meet with the City Manager and possibly the Mayor to address how we
should handle the outstanding balance. One suggestion given by the Committee was
to send a letter to the lien holders requesting payment.
Agenda Item IV.
Committee gave some ideas as to what they would like to focus on at the upcoming
meetings. Sheryl Mohrbacher requested that we add junk vehicles to our agenda in
April. Joel Marks talked about creating a sign that would be placed at areas where
numerous garage sale signs are located, informing the residents that it is illegal for
them to place garage sale signs in the right of ways. Bill Longo stated that he would
like the Police Department to write an article to the newspaper stating how important
it is for house numbers to be on the front and back of properties. Mr. Longo also
stated that he would like us to consider sending an informative letter to the residents
letting them know who Code Enforcement is and what they do.
