CITIZEN'S INPUT - None. 2. APPROVAL OF MINUTES OF SEPTEMBER 16TH 2004 - Motion to approve - King; Second - Beckel; motion carried 3. CONSIDERATION OF A REQUEST TO LEASE A PORTION OF BB OWEN FOR AN OUTDOOR LASER TAG FACILITY - I Howard Hull, a longtime resident of The Colony, wants to bring laser tag to The Colony- Battlemania - Infrared Combat Games. He would like to use an area of BB Owen Park near the adult softball fields so they could utilize the restrooms and concession stand Howard has applied for a patent for his laser gun. The guns have a hard drive inside of them and it also has a screen that you can read your scores from. There are no harnifullasers on the gun. There are several scenarios you can choose to act out - military, science fiction and video games. Advisors are on hand for assistance and instruction. DFW Adventure Park, located near the Texas Motor Speedway in Denton County, has committed to offer Battlemania Infrared Combat Games at their facility. They currently offer paintball and a wide variety of other outdoor recreational activities, and are very excited to add this to their facility. Howard is on course to market this nationwide, but he is hoping to have the first one in The Colony. In addition to the facility utilizing land that is currently not being used, it will also provide sales tax revenue for the city and provide a new form of entertainment to our residents in their own town. The board is very excited about this project and would like to have it in The Colony. Motion to instruct staff to proceed with developing a lease agreement - King; Second - Walden; motion carried 4. CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL TO PURCHASE A KINKED GRINDING RAIL FOR THE SKATEP ARK- Many kids who use the skate park have asked us to add a kinked grinding rail that will allow them to I grind a rail going up and down the fun box. To do this, we would need to change out one section of the fun box with a ramp that is more suited for this grinding rail. The cost to do this is $2,292.00 and it would come from the skate park account. Motion to approve - Walden; Second - Beckel; motion carried 5. UPDATE FROM DIRECTOR I ASST. DIRECTOR- FINANCIAL STATEMENTS- We did meet our projected figure of the amount of sales tax collected this year. PARK IMPROVEMENTS- City Council has given approval to start the beautification project at the Pump Station and City Hall. Ortiz Landscapingfrom Denton will be doing this project. This is not a 4B project. Slay Baker - ROWand ADA sidewalks and playground expansion are planned. Austin Ranch - The soccer field and 1,000feet of walking trail will be advertisedfor bid on Oct. 21h, Nov. 3rd and Nov. 1 (jh, and the bids opened on Nov. 1 (/h. The trail will go from the apartment complex to the soccer field TRAIL LIGHTS AT FIVE STAR - The cost to purchase the bollard type light fIXture and to install the electricity is much more than anticipated We are now considering putting some type of security light on the light poles that would be focused on different sections along the trail. HAUNTED HAYRIDE- The Arts Group has been helping us prepare for the hayride. They have stuffed dummies and have been setting up some scenes. The event is on Oct. 29'h & 3(jh.
