HomeMy WebLinkAbout08/10/04 P&Z Planning and Zoning Commission August 10, 2004 I MINUTES OF THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING HELD ON AUGUST 10,2004 The Regular Session of the Planning and Zoning Commission of the City of The Colony, Texas was called to order at 6:30 p.m. on the 10th day of August, 2004, at City Hall with the following members present: Bill Jamme, Chairman Mike Barrett Marlene Milsak DeVille Hubbard Brian Wade Kirk Mikulec Absent: Bill Harrison - business I Staff: Harry Persaud, Director of Development Services Lauren Odell, Planner James Hanvey, Staff Engineer Sandy V ondersaar, Administrative Assistant With six (6) P & Z members present, a quorum was established and the following items were addressed: 2.0 DISPOSITION OF MINUTES 2.1 Approval and/or correction of Planning and Zoning Commission Minutes for the meeting held on June 22, 2004. Motion to approve the minutes of the meeting held on June 22, 2004, Commissioner Milsap; second, Commissioner Mikulec . Motion carried 5-0 with one abstention. Commissioner Wade was not in attendance at the June 220d meeting. 3.0 CITIZEN INPUT None I - 1 - Planning and Zoning Commission August 10, 2004 Mr. Persaud introduced to the Commission the City's new Planner, Lauren Odell. 4.0 ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION Chairman Jamme opened the public hearing at 6:33 p.m. 4.1 Hold a public hearing and consider a request for an amendment to an existing Specific Use Permit providing for a single dwelling unit in the General Retail "GR" zoning district classification on a 2.7936 acre tract situated on Lot lR, Block 1, Securegard Addition, Thomas C. Wilson Survey Abstract No. 1352, generally situated on the northeast corner of F.M. 423 and Cougar Alley in the City of The Colony, Denton County, Texas. (2004- SUP003). Ms. Odell presented the staff report regarding consideration of an amendment to a Specific Use Permit under Section 10-900 of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance to allow for a single dwelling unit located within the exiting Securelock Self Storage facility situated on the northeast comer ofF.M. 423 and Cougar Alley. Six (6) notices were mailed to the property owners within 200 feet of the subject tract. At meeting time two (2) responses in favor had been received. Mr. Andrew Smith of Securelock, 4316 Main Street, The Colony, Texas 75056, was present to answer questions. Chairman Jamme closed the public hearing at 6:38 p.m. Staff recommends approval. A motion to recommend consideration of a request for an amendment to an existing Specific Use Permit providing for a single dwelling unit in the General Retail "GR" zoning district classification on a 2.7936 acre tract situated on Lot lR, Block 1, Securegard Addition, Thomas C.
