HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 00-1174 ORIGINAL ORDINANCE NO. 00-1174 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 99-1160 WHICH AMENDED CHAPTER 19 TRAFFIC OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES IN SECTION 19-11 SCHOOL TRAFFIC ZONES; INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO POST THE REQUIRED SIGNS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That Ordinance No. 99-1160 of the City of The Colony, Texas passed and approved on the 6th day of December 1999; which amended Chapter 19 Traffic of the Code of Ordinances; shall be amended relating to School Traffic Zones as follows: "No motor vehicle shall be operated along and upon Farm Road Highway No. 423 (Main Street) within the corporate limits of the city in excess of the speed now set forth in the following limits: Beginning at station 509 plus 85 to station 522 plus 85, being a distance of one thousand three hundred (1,300) feet, a maximum speed of thirty (30) miles per hour when so signed for school crossing locations. Said speed limit shall be in effect on school days from the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and from 2:45p. m. to 4:15 p. m." Section 2. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to post the appropriate traffic zone signs including a flashing amber light at the locations provided hereinabove. Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine in accordance with the general provisions of the Code of Ordinances. Section 4. If any section or provision of this ordinance, or application of that section or provision to any person, firm, corporation, situation or circumstance is for any reason judged invalid, the adjudication shall not affect any other section or provision of this ordinance or the application of any other section or provision to any other person, firm, corporation, situation or circumstance, and the City Council declares that it would have adopted the valid portions of the Ordinance without the invalid parts and to this end the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
