AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 19 TRAFFIC OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING SECTION 19-10 SPEED LIMITS - GENERALLY; BY AMENDING SECTION 19-10 (B) RELATING TO SPEED LIMITS ON PAIGE ROAD; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE WHEREAS, the safety and welfare of the citizens of The Colony is always of the highest priority; WHEREAS, it is anticipated that the construction on Paige Road will continue for a period of at least one year; and WHEREAS, it is the recommendation of the Police Chief, City Engineer and Public Works Director that the speed limits on Paige Road be lowered for the duration of the construction period. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That Chapter 19 Traffic of the Code of Ordinances shall be amended in Sec. 19-10 Speed Limits - Generally as follows: Section 19-10 (b) Paige Road From its intersecting point with North Colony Boulevard to its intersecting point with South Colony - 35 mph. Paige Road From its intersecting point with Avery Lane to its intersecting point with State Highway 121.- 40 shall be deleted in it's entirety. Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine in accordance with the general provisions of the Code of Ordinances. Section 3. If any section or provision of this ordinance, or application of that section or provision to any person, finn, corporation, situation or circumstance is for any reason judged invalid, the adjudication shall not affect any other section or provision of this ordinance or the application of any other section or provision to any other person, finn, corporation, situation or circumstance, and the City Council declares that it would have adopted the valid portions of the Ordinance without the invalid parts and to this end the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
