HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 25ORDINANCE 25 AN ORDINANCE FOR THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS CALLING FOR AN ELECTION TO VOTE FOR OR AGAINST THE ADOPTION OF A ONE PERCENT LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX WITHIN THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS WHEREAS, Article 1066c, Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes, provides that any city may, by a majority vote of the qualified voters of the city voting at an election, adopt a local sales and use tax for the benefit of such city in accordance with pro- visions of law; and WHEREAS, a majority of the City Council of The City of The Colony, Texas desires to call and hold an election on the question of the adoption of a one percent local sales and use tax within The City of The Colony, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: That at the next regular city election to be held on April 1, 1978 the ballot at such election have printed on it the following: "FOR adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within The City." and "AGAINST adoption of a one percent (1%) local sales and use tax within The City." PASSED AND APPROVED this aQ day of February, 1978. ATTEST: City Secretary
