CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. 97-991 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS AMENDING CHAPTER 19 TRAFFIC OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES IN SECTION 19-11 SCHOOL TRAFFIC ZONES; INSTRUCTING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO POST THE REQUIRED SIGNS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY OF A FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00); PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That Chapter 19 Traffic of the Code of Ordinances shall be amended in Sec. 19-11 Speed Limits - in School Traffic Zones as follows: Blair Oaks From a point 300 feet north of its intersection with South Colony Boulevard to its intersection with Now[in Street Nowlin Street From its intersection with Blair Oaks to its intersection with Cougar Alley. Cougar Alley From its intersection with Nowlin Street to its intersection with Farm to Market Road 423 (Main Street) Section 2. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized to post the appropriate traffic zone signs including a flashing amber light at the locations provided hereinabove. Section 3. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be subject to a fine in accordance with the general provisions of the Code of Ordinances. Section 4. If any section or provision of this ordinance, or application of that section or provision to any person, firm, corporation, situation or circumstance is for any reason judged invalid, the adjudication shall not affect any other section or provision of this ordinance or the application of any other section or provision to any other person, finn, corporation, situation or circumstance, and the City Council declares that it would have adopted the valid portions of the Ordinance without the invalid paxts and to this end the provisions of this ordinance shall remain in full force and effect.
