HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 929 OI?iGINAL CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS ORDINANCE NO. ~ AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY AMENDING 6 BUILDINGS; CONSTRUCTION AND RELATED ACTIVITY AMENDING ARTICLE II, SIGNS BY AMENDING SECTION 6-28 (9) RELATING TO TEMPORARY SIGNS AND AMENDING CHAPTER 19 SECTION 3 RELATING TO THE TRAFFIC ENGINEER; AMENDING CHAPTER 19 SECTION 4 RELATING TO THE REGULATION OF TRAFFIC AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That Chapter 6, Section 28 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of The Colony, Texas (the "City") relating to temporary signs is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 6-28 - Temporary promotional signs - ......"Signs shall be located as determined by the traffic administrator or his representative." Section 1. That Chapter 19 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of The Colony, Texas (the "City") relating to traffic is hereby amended to read as follows: "Sec. 19-3. Traffic Administrator - Chief of Police designated. The Chief of Police shall serve as and is hereby designated city traffic administrator." "Sec. 19-4. Same-Authority and duty_ in the regulation of traffic. (a) Whenever any ordinance designates any one-way street or alley the traffic administrator shall cause to be placed and maintained, ...... (b) Whenever any ordinance designates and describes a through street it shall be the duty of the traffic administrator to have placed and maintained a stop sign ...... (c) The traffic administrator is authorized to have placed markers, buttons or signs ..... (d) The traffic administrator is authorized to determine those intersections at which drivers of vehicles shall not make a right, left or U mm, and shall cause to be placed proper signs ..... (e) The traffic administrator is authorized to determine and designate intersections where particular hazards exist upon other than through streets and to determine whether vehicles shall stop or yield the right-of-way at one or more entrances to any such stop or yield right-of-way intersection and shall cause to be erected a stop or yield right-of-way sign .... (f) The traffic administrator is authorized to determine and designate no- parking areas where particular hazards exist....." "Sec. 19-13 Truck Routes (c) The traffic administrator or the administrator's designated representative shall cause to be erected signs and markings to designate the routes set out herein and whenever any street designated as a truck route herein is being repaired or is otherwise temporarily out of use, the traffic administrator or designated representative is authorized to designate alternate truck routes for such period as may be necessary ....... " Section 3. That this ordinance shall be cumulative of all other ordinances of the City affecting traffic and shall not repeal any of the provisions of said ordinances except in those instances where provisions of those ordinances are in direct conflict with the provisions of this ordinance.
