O DINANCE
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 9 BY
AMENDING SECTIONS 9-41, 9-44, 9-45 AND 9-47;
PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That Chapter 9 of the Code of Ordinances shall be and is hereby
amended as follows:
Sec. 9-41. Areas to be designated.
"Ail mnitifamily residential structures, other than duplexes; non-residential
structures., all structures of more than two and one-half stories, shall provide
areas to be designated as a fire lane. Such fire lane area shall be laid out
along the curb line in front of said structure or, if there is no curb line, then
along the front of said structure as the term front is herein defined not more
than thirty-five (34) feet from said structure and lying along the entire width
or length, as the case may be, of the front of said structure; said fire lane
being not less than twenty (20) feet wide at all points and having not less
than a twen(~' (20) foot arc radius at any comer".
Sec. 9-44. Authority to designate.
"The fire chief, or his authorized reoresentative, shall have the authority to
designate fire lanes in the rear of any building required to have a fire lane
under the provisions of this article. Factors which may deem this necessary
shall include, but are not limited to. the size of the buildinm the occuoancv
of the building, the location of the fire deoartment connections, etc".

Sec. 9-45. Marking and signs.
'Any fire lane required by this article shall be on a paved surface and be
clearly marked on the pavement with an exterior red pain forming a
perimeter line of at least six (6) inches in width with the orinted legends.
'NQ PARKING' and "FIRE LANE' in letters not less than four (4~ inches in
height and one inch in width, white in color ............. '
Sec. 9-47. Accessibility to fire hydrants on private property.
Section 9-47 paragraph (2) and (3) shall be deleted in their entirety.
Section 2. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage and it is so ordained.
