AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS AMENDING THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY BY AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE I; ADDING SECTION 2.7 AND SECTION 2.8 RELATING TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That Chapter 2, Article I, of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of Section 2.7 Administrative Services Department to hereafter read as follows: "Section 2.7 Administrative Services Department Pursuant to section 3.07 of the charter, there is hereby created the Administrative Services Department, which shall be comprised of the personnel department, library department, and municipal court department." Section 2. That Chapter 2, Art/cie I, of the Code of Ordinances is hereby amended by the addition of Section 2.8 - Additional Duties and Responsibilities of City Secretary to hereinafter read as follows: "Section 2.8 Additional Duties of City Secretary Pursuant to Section 3.06 of the Charter, the City Council hereby authorizes the City Secretary to serve as Director of the Administrative Services Department. As Director of said Administrative Services Department, the City Secretary shall report to and consult with the City Manager, except that the City Manager shall not have the authority to remove and/or hire the City Secretary from said position, such authority being vested in the Council." Section 3. If any section, article paragraph, sentence, clause, phrase or word in this ordinance, or application thereto any persons or circumstances is held invalid or unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not affect the validity of the remaining portions of this ordinance; and the City Council hereby declares it would have passed such remaining portions of this Ordinance despite such invalidity, which remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect. Section 4. That this ordinance shall take effect immediately from and after its passage and it is so ordained.
