ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS
AMENDING CHAPTER 16 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES
RELATING TO PERSONNEL; BY AMENDING SECTION 16-7
RELATING TO SCHOOL CROSSING GUARDS; BY DELETING
SECTIONS 16-8 AND 16-9; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE;
AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS:
Section 1. That Chapter 16 relating to Personnel shall be amended by amending
Section 16-7 relating to School Crossing Guards and is hereby amended in the following
particulars.
A. Section 16-7 - Same - "Equipment, dress and compensation.
The civilian school crossing guards shall dress as the chief of police shall direct, and
shall be equipped in the manner the chief deems necessary for the proper discharge
of their duties. Any specialized equipment shall be provided to the civilian school
crossing guards by the City. The civilian school crossing guards shall be paid such
compensation as the city council shall provided from time to time."
B. Section 16-8 and 16-9 shall be deleted in their entirety.
Section 2. If any sentence, article, paragraph, clause, phrase or word in this
Ordinance, or application thereof to any person or circumstances is held invalid or
unconstitutional by a Court of competent jurisdiction, such holding shall not effect the
validity of the remaining portions of this Ordinance; and the City Council hereby declares
it would have passed such remaining portions of this Ordinance despite such invalidity,
which remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.
