HomeMy WebLinkAboutOrdinance No. 184 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, AMENDING ORDINANCE 147 TO DELETE FROM SECTION 5(b) THEREOF THE LISTED SPEED LIMITS FOR SOUTH COLONY BOULEVARD, NORTH COLONY BOULEVARD, AND PAIGE ROAD; AMENDING SECTION 6 THEREOF TO PROVIDE SPEED LIMITS IN SCHOOL TRAFFIC ZONES ON SOUTH COLONY BOULEVARD FROM SIX HUNDRED (600) FEET EAST OF BLAIR OAKS DRIVE TO TWO HUNDRED (200) FEET WEST OF ALTA OAKS LANE AND ON PAIGE ROAD FROM TWENTY-FIVE (25) FEET SOUTH OF KISOR DRIVE TO TWENTY-FIVE (25) FEET SOUTH OF GIBSON DRIVE; PROVIDING A PENALTY OF FINE NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS ($200.00) FOR EACH OFFENSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: SECTION 1. That Ordinance No. 147, Section 5(b) is hereby amended to delete therefrom South Colony Boulevard, North Colony Boulevard, and Paige Road, the City Council having found and determined that such streets constitute urban districts within the City for which the maximum prima facie speed limit is established by State law at thirty (30) miles per hour, and that it is unnecessary to list such streets for that purpose in Ordinance No. 147. SECTION 2. That Section 6 of Ordinance No. 147 is hereby amended in part as follows, to-wit: "STREET EXTENT South Colony Boulevard From a point 600 feet east of its intersection with Blair Oaks Drive to a point 200 feet west of its intersection with Alta Oaks Lane. Paige Road From a point 25 feet south of its intersection with Kisor Drive to a point 25 feet south of its intersection with Gibson Drive." SECTION 3. That the other provisions of Section 5(b) and Section 6 of Ordinance 147 designating maximum lawful prima facie speed limits and speed limits in certain school traffic zones shall remain in full force and effect. SECTION 4. Any person violating any of the provisions of Ordinance 147 as amended hereby shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and, upon conviction in the Municipal Court of the City of The Colony, Texas, shall be fined in an amount not to exceed Two Hundred Dollars ($200.00) for each offense. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall become effective from and after its passage and the publication of the caption as the law and charter in such cases provide.
