AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS,
AMENDING ORDINANCES NOS. 15 & 71 TO PROVIDE A
PARK AND RECREATION BOARD; PROVIDING FOR THE
APPOINTMENT OF ALTERNATES; PROVIDING FOR A
SEVERABLILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE
Be it ordained by the City Council of the City of
The Colony, Texas:
SECTION 1. Section 4 Ordinance No. 71 is amended by
deleting there from the first sentence.
SECTION 2. Ordinance No. 15 is amended by amending
Section 1.03 (a) to read as follows, to wit:
"SECTION 1.03 Park and Recreation Board
(A) ESTABLISHED - The Park and Recreation Board consist-
ing of five (5) members and two (2) alternates is hereby estab-
lished. The City Council shall appoint a first alternate and
second alternate to the Board each September 1, to serve a
term of one year. Said alternates shall participate as "ex -
officio" members when a quorum of regular members are present
at a regular meeting. In the event one member less than a
quorum of the Board shall be present for any regular meeting,
the first alternate shall participate in and vote on matters
before the Board, and further, if the Board is two members
short of a quorum at any meeting, the first and second alter-
nates shall both participate in and vote on matters before the
Board."
SECTION 3. The provisions of this Ordinance are severable
and should any section, paragraph, sentence, clause or phrase
hereof be declared unconstitutional such declaration shall not
effect any of the remaining provisions thereof.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from
and after its passage and publication of the caption as the law and
charter in such cases provide.
