AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, ANNEXING THE
HEREINAFTER DESCRIBED TERRITORY TO THE CITY OF THE COLONY; ATTACHING
THE DESCRIPTION OF SUCH TERRITORY AS EXHIBITS A, B, AND C; EXTENDING
THE BOUNDARY LIMITS OF SAID CITY SO AS TO INCLUDE SAID PROPERTY
WITHIN THE CITY LIMITS; GRANTING ALL PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS
AND BINDING ALL INHABITANTS BY ALL THE ACTS, ORDINANCES AND REGU-
LATIONS OF SAID CITY; PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF THE EXTRA-
TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF THE CITY; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY
CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, after holding a public hearing under the provisions of
Article 970a of the Revised Civil Statutes of Texas and finding that
the following described land is adjoining the present City Limits
of the City of The Colony, the City Council of the City of The Colony
bas concluded that said area should be annexed to and made a part
of the City of The Colony, NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY,
TEXAS:
SECTION i. That the territory described in Exhibits A, B and C
be, and the same is hereby, annexed to the City of The Colony, Denton
County, Texas, and the boundary limits of the City of The Colony are
hereby extended to include the following described territory within
the City Limits of the City of The Colony and the same shall here-
after be included within the territorial limits of the City, and
the property situated therein shall bear its pro rata part of the
taxes levied by the City and the inhabitants thereof shall be en-
titled to all the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of the
citizens and shall be bound by the acts, ordinances, resolutions,
and regulations of said City.
SECTION 2. That it is not the intention of the City of The
Colony to annex any territory not legally subject to being annexed
by it and should any portion of the territory described in Exhibits
A, B and C not be subject to annexation by the City, such fact will
not prevent the City from annexing such territory which is described
in such Exhibits and is subject to annexation by the City.
SECTION 3. In accordance with Article 970a of the Revised Civil
Statutes of Texas, the extraterritorial jurisdiction of the City of
The Colony, shall, upon enactment of this ordinance, be extended.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall take effect immediately from
and after its passage and the publication of the caption as the law
and charter in such cases provide.
