RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF THE COLONY SUPPORTING THE CONCEPT OF A
FREEWAY ON S.H. 121 FROM F.M. 544 TO U.S.
75 AND COMMITTING TO PRESERVE THE NECESSARY
RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR A FREEWAY.
WHEREAS, Denton and Collin Counties are among the
fastest growing counties in the United States; and
WHEREAS, much of the projected future growth of these
counties will generate traffic volumes beyond the capacity of
normal major thoroughfares; and
WHEREAS, it has been recognized that a freeway
will be required to accomodate this traffic; and
WHEREAS, Collin County, Denton County and the Cities
of McKinney, Allen, Frisco, Plano, The Colony, Carrollton and
Lewisville engaged the services of Barton-Aschman Associates,
Inc. to develop right-of-way.,plans for a'future freeway; and
WHEREAS, those right-of-way plans have now been
completed;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY IS COMMITTED TO PRESERVING THE
RIGHT-OF-WAY FOR A FREEWAY ALONG S.H. 121 ACCORDING TO:
1. The final plan submitted by Barton-Aschman, or
2. Alternatives that preserve the concepts depicted
in the Barton-Aschman plans and that are
acceptable to the State Department of Highways
and Public Transportation, and
3. Revision to the plans at Station 200 to provide
a mor~ direct access to F.M. 423.
