JANUARY We hope to kick off our celebration with a Special Birthday party for Texas' 150th year in conjunction with The Colony's 9th year. There will be a giant birthday cake, the bottom layer being for Texas and the second layer being for The Colony. FEBRUARY This is the month for Beard Growing and Bread Baking. Both contests to get the citizens involved in the celebration. MARCH ~[his is Texas' Independence month and we would like to see a stage production of some sort open to the public. APRIL A giant city clean up campaign is planned to get the City ready for the summer activities. Possible rewards for citizens willing to clean up. MAY This month will be spent mostly in preparation for June and July, two months with heavy activity planned. If the Aquatic Park opens as planned, we may center some type of activity around the opening. JUNE We have a week long celebration planned involving all the merchants and businesses in The Colony, climaxing with a giant week-end at Stewarts Creek Park. Including a parade, bon fire, Fish Off, Chili Cook-off, and Donkey Baseball. JULY Of course we will have the traditional July 4th Parade, but we would also like to carry the celebration out all day. Perhaps a Country Fair ending with the Fireworks display. AUGUST Box Supper and Ho Down at Stewarts Creek Park SEPTEMBER Another month to prepare for other activities, we hope to incorporate the opening of The Colony High School with a ceremony of some type. OCTOBER Hopefully we can combine the Haunted House with the Sesquicentennial. NOVEMBER We will have the traditional Turkey Trot and the Rotary Club may sponsor a Turkey Shoot. DECEMBER A giant Christmas Parade, possible Caroling parties all over the City and of course the Tree Lighting. JANUARY - 1987 The Grand Finale! The 10th Birthday of the City of The Colony. The top layer of the giant cake will be put in place, and a gift will be given to the City. The gift will be purchased with proceeds of the year long activities. The committee's goal is a covered pavilion to be built at Stewarts Creek Park to be used by the entire city for many varied functions. We will be contacting all the businesses, schools, and other organiza- tions in our city to solicit suppo'rt in this e~,f:ort. We ask the Council's approval of this plan and their support of all endeavors of the citizens of The Colony in carrying out this celebration.
