HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 85-10 CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS RESOLUTION # ~...~ A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, REQUESTING THE DENTON COUNTY CLERK TO USE FM#23 AS THE DIVIDING LINE g/HEN DIVIDING COUNTY PRECINCT # 2 N AND USING THE STEg/ARTS CREEK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL AS A POLLING PLACE FOR THE NEg/LY CREATED PRECINCT. ~/HEREAS, the Denton County Clerk is responsible for dividing county precincts when the number of registered voters exceeds 3,000; and ~/HEREAS, Denton County Precinct 2N now exceeds 3,000 registered voters, therefore requiring the division of same and the establishment of an additional county precinct within our city; and · /HEREAS, the Stewart Creek Peninsula is a rapidly developing area; and · /HEREAS, since the County prefers to have their boundaries follow straight lines, when at all possible, FM423 would be the most logical boundary; NOt//, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas: Section 1. That the County Clerk consider using FM423 as the precinct dividing line. Section 2. That Stewarts Creek Elementary School located at 4431 Augusta Road, in The Colony, be used as the polling place for the new precinct. Section 3. That the City Secretary is hereby authorized to furnish copies of this resolution to all interested parties. PASSED AND APPROVED this the /7/'~ day of 3une, 1985. Larry-D.
