HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 85-05 THE CITY OF THE COLONY RESOLUTION WHEREAS~ The City of The Colony is located within the Metroplex area immediately surrounding the City of Dallas and within 23 miles of the City of Dallas; WHEREAS, the many citizens o£ the City of The Colony are presently required to place long distance telephone calls between their places of employment or businesses in the Dallas Metroplex area and their residences, health care facilities, & schools, and; WHEREAS~ Tex. Rev. Civ. Stat. Ann., art. 1##6c, §61 permits the granting of Extended Area Telephone Service pursuant to certain conditions set forth therein, and; WHEREAS, Extended Area Telephone Service would eleviate the necessity of long distance telephone calling between the Metroplex area surrounding the City of Dallas and the City of The Colony, and; WHEREAS, there exists a community of interest between the City of The Colony and the Dallas Metroplex area, and; WHEREAS, it is the belief of the City Council of the City of The Colony that Extended Area Telephone Service between the Dallas Metroplex and the City of The Colony can be reasonably provided to the City of The Colony, and; WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council of the City of The Colony that the Public Utilities Commission of Texas order that Extended Area Telephone Service be provided to the City of The Colony pursuant to the provisions of the Public Utilities Regulatory Act, Tex. Rev. Civ. Stat. Ann., art. 1##6c. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY: That the City of The Colony make application to the Public Utilities Commission of Texas for the provision of Extended Area Telephone Service to the City of The Colony from the Dallas Metroplex area pursuant to the terms and provisions of Tex. Rev. Civ. Stat. Ann., art. 1##6c, §61(2). PASSED and APPROVED this the I ~ day of April, 1985. ATTEST: Jane~add, City Secretary
