HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 85-04 CITY OF THE COLONY RESOLUTION #85-0# WHEREAS, the Texas Municipal Clerks' Certification program a quality Professional Development Program which was designed and written by a former City Secretary; and WHEREAS, said program has been administered by the program director in cooperation with the Association of City Clerks and Secretaries of Texas for the past 17 years; and WHEREAS, over 12,000 City officials have participated and benefitted from this program which has been and continues to remain educationally and professionally responsible to the everchanging technical and administrative needs of Texas cities, towns and villages; and WHEREAS, State Representative Charles Evans has introduced HB 2092 which will provide fromal State recognition to the Certification Program as a NO COST support to the on-going efforts of Texas' cities, towns, and villages in their continuing efforts to improve and maintain local government efficiency and effectiveness by training local government officials; and WHEREAS, the Certification Program has demonstrated its value by improving the performance of the City Clerk while lowering the cost of municipal government for the citizens of Texas; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas: The City Council of the City of The Colony supports recognition of the Texas Municipal Clerks' Certification Program and respectfully urges State Legislators to approve passage of HB 2092; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT copies of this Resolution be forwarded to State Representative Ben Campbell and State Senator Bob McFarland urging them to support this vital piece of legislation in the 69th Session of the Legislature of the State of Texas.
