HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 83-24 A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 1983 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas, by ordinance duly passed and adopted, made provision for a Special Election to be held within said City on the 8th day of November, 1983, for the purpose of selling or trading 14.7 acres of Park Property described as Office Creek Park adjacent to Blair Oaks Drive to the Lewisville Independent School District; and WHEREAS, said City Council has investigated all matters pertaining to said election, including the ordering, giving notice, officers holding and making returns of said election; and the election officers who held said election have duly made the returns of the resuIts thereof, and said returns have been duly delivered to said City Council for official canvassing of the returns thereof; and WHEREAS, upon the returns of the said election duly and legally made, and other instruments, showed the following results: FOR: ] 0 ~ c/ AGAINST: L~ ~) BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS: Section 1. That all the recitals contained in the preambles of this resolution are found to be true and correct and are hereby adopted as findings of fact by the City Council and are incorporated herein for all purposes as if they were set out in full in the body of this resolution. Section 2. It is further found and determined that the results of the election as canvassed and tabulated in the preamble thereof reflect the expressed desires of the electors and that a majority of the duly qualified, resident electors of the City voted in favor of the proposition as submitted at said November 8, 1983 Special Election. C~{/S~cretary [SEAL] MINUTES AND CERTIFICATION PERTAINING TO PASSAGE OF A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS, CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING RESULTS OF A SPECIAL ELECTION HELD ON NOVEMBER 8, 1983 THE STATE OF TEXAS § COUNTY OF TARRANT § City Council of the City Meeting at the regular public and notice of said meeting, giving the date, place and subject thereof, having been posted as prescribed by Article 6252-17, V.A.T.C.S., and the roll was called of the duly constituted officers and members of said City Council which members and officers are as follows, to-wit: Larry D. Sample, Mayor Noel Long ) Scott North, Mayor Pro Tem Norman Adeler ) Janice Carroll, City Manager Don Amick ) Councilmembers Charles Dodds ) Marlene Poole ) Ail of said persons were present, except the following absentees: ------ , thus constituting a quorum. Whereupon, among other business, the following was transacted, to-wit: A written Resolution bearing the following caption was introduced: "A Resolution by the City of the Colony, Texas Canvassing Returns and Declaring the Results of a Special Election held on November 8, 1983." The Resolution, a full, true and correct copy of which is attached hereto, was read and reviewed by the City Council. ~Thereupon, it was moved by ~ ~and seconded by ~ ~that the Resolution be passed and adopted, to be in effect immediately according to its terms. The City Manager put the motion to a vote of the members of the City Council and the Resolution was passed and adopted by the following vote: AYES: Al 1 members present voted aye NOES: None The Mayor then declared the Resolution passed and adopted, and signed and approved the same in the presence of the City Council and declared the Resolution effective immediately. MINUTES APPROVED AND CERTIFIED TO BE TRUE AND CORRECT and to correctly reflect the duly constituted members and officers of the City Council of The City of The Colony, Texas and the attached and following copy of said Resolution is hereby certified to be a true and correct copy of an officia~l~py thereof on file among the official records of the City, all on this the /~r~ day of November, 1983.
