HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution No. 89-22 CITY OF THE COLONY, TEXAS RESOLUTION NO. WHEREAS, a major new freeway, State Highway 190, will serve five cities and three counties in the North Dallas area with a segment being authorized and under construction since 1987; and WHEREAS, the only state west of Ohio with two Presidential birthplaces is Texas; and WHEREAS, Interstate Highway 635 was named for Lyndon B. Johnson, the second Texas born President; and WHEREAS, Former President Dwight David Eisenhower was born in Denison, Texas, on October 14, 1890, and later spent many years of Army service in Texas; and WHEREAS, President Eisenhower considered his greatest peacetime achievement the initiation of the Interstate Highway system; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: Section 1 The City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas does hereby endorse the designation of State Highway 190 as the Dwight D. Eisenhower Freeway; and Section 2 The City Council of the City of The Colony, Texas urges the other cities which will be served by this highway to join in this endorsement; and Section 3 These endorsements by communicated to the State Department of Highways and Public Transpo~ation.
