RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF THE
COLONY SUPPORTING THE FORMATION OF A KEEP TEXAS
BEAUTIFUL, INC. COMMUNITY ORGANIZATION IN THE CITY OF THE
COLONY AND ESTABLISHING A BOARD.
WHEREAS, the City of The Colony desires to improve the physical quality of
community life; and
WHEREAS, litter along the roadsides in The Colony is a detriment to quality of
life and to economic development; and,
WHEREAS, beautifying the city through increased landscaping and proper
management of public rights-of-way is desirable, yet expensive; and
WHEREAS, a clean environment contributes to the emotional, physical, and
economic well-being of our citizens; and,
WHEREAS, the community organization, developed by Keep Texas Beautiful,
Inc. will greatly assist in reducing the improper handling of waste in our city, and thereby
reduce litter and increase solid waste management activities and encourage citizen
involvement in beautification and landscaping, fostering a sense of ownership and pride:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF THE COLONY that the City Council hereby endorses the organization, and supports
the participation with Keep Texas Beautiful, Inc., and
FURTHER, the City Council of the City of The Colony hereby recognizes the
Keep The Colony Beautiful Board. Said board shall be an official entity of the City and
shall be accountable to the Mayor, and the Keep The Colony Beautiful board shall be
appointed by the Mayor and City Council. Operations, by-laws, and a budget shall be
established by the board and a contract for city affiliation shall be presented to Council
for approval in the 2000-2001fiscal year. Membership in the organization shall be open
to the general public in accordance with general Keep Texas Beautiful guidelines.
This resolution shall be in full force and effect from and after its adoption.
